
Statement
Dusty Lombardo is a visual artist and community arts organizer living in San Francisco. Her photographs primarily focus on the emotional intersection between urbanization and industrial wastelands and the people who live in these environments. She co-founded the photo group "Point Blank", a group of photographers who came together to merge and solidify creative resources while attempting to make art more accessible and visible to different communities. Point Blanks accomplishments include slide shows curated with live music, numerous group installations, curatorial, and publication. Dusty also co-founded the feminist art collective "The Big Ballyhoo, whose most recent accomplishments includes a residency marking the 20 th anniversary of The Lab. Dusty's work can be seen throughout the galleries and streets of San Francisco
Current Projects
Dusty's photographs can be seen at Deitch Gallery in NYC beginning December 10 th . This show is a collaboration of 5 individuals and their search for "utopia". This project was created over 10 days while visiting and exploring different gay/lesbian rv camps and spaces. Participants in the show include JD Samson (also the creator, visionary, and organizer of this project), Cass Bird, Sasha Anthome, and Lex Vaughn.
Dusty is also currently working on the project "Year of 33". This project is part of a project that Dusty began five years ago with "Year of 28". The parameters for the project is a year of daily photographs. One of herself, everyday and at least one other to signify an event that occurred on that day. This project will happen ever 5 years. It is an attempt to document and reveal the ways that community and environments transform around one individuals life
